The first unit is called Thermo Scientific Niton DXL Precious Metal Analyzer. This machine quickly distinguishes between gold plating and solid gold, determines the accurate karat (K) of gold, and breaks down the exact percent of up to 22 different elements, including all precious metals, that could be present in the piece. 

The second unit is called the Sigma Metalytics Precious Metals PRO. It measures the item in four separate measurements that ensure that the coin or bar contains the correct metal. We measure the surface resistivity and the resistivity all the way through the item all at once so you will not have to worry about the depth of the buried metal.
